Frequently Asked Questions
How is the jewellery made?
All pieces are hand-made by lead designer and maker Kavita in Melbourne Australia; thus no manufacturing takes place.
There may be minor differences from pieces seen photographed online due to the unique and hand-made nature of all pieces.
What are Miyuki beads?
Miyuki beads hail from Japan and are glass "seed" beads. They are known for their uniform size and shape and as a result, make them ideal for weaving designs and patterns.
What does 'gold-filled' mean?
Gold-filled is more durable and valuable that gold plating, as it is pressure bonded to the interior metal rather than simply dipped. It therefore has a thicker layer of gold which is also of higher quality. When gold-filled, it contains 100% more gold than when plated. Gold-filled findings will not tarnish, flake, rub off or change colour - which can happen with gold-plating.
How do I look after my jewellery?
To ensure longevity of your jewellery, it is recommended to take your pieces off before showering and swimming. Whilst Illka Designs uses high quality sterling silver and gold-filled metals, jewellery must be looked after to ensure longevity.
It is also best to moisturise or spray perfume before putting on your jewellery.
When will I receive my order?
Most of the time pieces will be made to order, therefore please allow 7 business days plus the chosen shipping method. Pieces will be sent as soon as possible. For any rush orders please contact email@example.com and I will happily accommodate when possible.
What is the returns policy?
It is not possible to exchange for change of mind but if there is any fault please take a picture and send through to firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a replacement.
What if I have sensitive ears and/or skin?
All jewellery is hypo-allergenic. Only the best quality metals are used: sterling silver, gold-filled and rose gold-filled.
How do the necklace lengths work?
The HANGING length refers to the length from the clasp/knot to the centre of the pendant or feature.
The TOTAL length is if the clasp is undone and measured from one end to the other.
